SAMMAMISH, Wash. – Washington completed play at The Tindall on Tuesday, with the Huskies finishing 10th overall at seven shots over par at Aldarra Golf Club.
Finn Koelle wrapped up the tournament on fire down the stretch, carding six birdies, including three over the final four holes, for a four-under 67 in the third round. Koelle ended three-under for the week, moving up the leaderboard into a tie for 19th.
“Finn had an excellent round… his late birdies helped us jump a couple of teams,” head coach Alan Murray said.
Redshirt Senior Drew Warford led the Huskies on the leaderboard, finishing tied for 6th after carding two birdies and 13 pars for a one-over 72 in the third round, concluding the tournament seven shots under par.
“It was a great week for Drew who had his best ever finish in a college golf tournament,” Murray said. “Really proud of Drew and his excellent play.”
Amilkar Bhana ended round three five-over and Abel Dirksen finsihed two shots over par for the day, leaving them tied for 61st overall, both 10-over for the tournament.
Brock Maulding rounded out the Husky lineup, carding a 74 in the third round, placing in a tie for 65th.
Justin Hopkins highlighted the Husky individuals on Tuesday, firing an even-par 71 to finish tied with Maulding and two others for 65th at 11-over.
“Justin had an excellent even par round today as an Indy” Murray said. “Good battling from the senior playing in his final home college tournament.”
Despite some positives over the week, Murray and UW ended The Tindall far from satisfied with the results on the course from a young Husky lineup.
“Our freshmen all battled hard and this has been a steep learning curve in terms of tough golf courses to begin their collegiate career,” said Murray. “It’s tough at the top and we clearly have some work to do.”
