Eden Lohrbach closed with a final-round 77 to finish with a three-round total of 229 in her collegiate debut to lead the Nebraska women’s golf team at the Red Raider Invitational in Lubbock, Texas, on Wednesday.
Lohrbach, a true freshman from Ames, Iowa, was Nebraska’s top finisher, tying for 50th (+13) in an 88-player field on the par-72, 6,894-yard layout of The Rawls Course.
Fellow Husker newcomer Hannah Kono finished one shot back of Lohrbach in a tie for 55th at 230 (+14) after a final-round 78 (+6) on Tuesday.
Miu Takahashi closed in Nebraska’s No. 3 spot with a 54-hole score of 232 (+16) following a 79 (+7) in the third round. The senior from Nasu-machi, Japan tied for 64th overall.
Sophomore Arden Louchheim produced Nebraska’s fourth counting score of the final round with an 80 (+8) to tie for 71st overall with a 234 (+18), while senior Andrea Velez tied for 78th at 240 (+24).
As a team, Nebraska settled for 12th in a strong 16-team field. The Huskers closed at 920 (+56) following a 314 (+26) on Wednesday.
The Huskers return to Lincoln and will take nearly a month to prepare for their third tournament of the fall when they return to Texas to compete in the Jim West Challenge at Kissing Tree Golf Club in San Marcos, Oct. 20-21.
