Blue Devil Women’s Golf Prepped for Windy City Collegiate


DURHAM, N.C. – The preseason 15th-ranked Duke women’s golf team will continue its fall campaign at the Windy City Collegiate Classic Sept. 30 through Oct. 1 at the 6,519-yard, par-72 Westmoreland Country Club in Wilmette, Ill. 
 
Seeing action along with the Blue Devils will be Northwestern, Arizona, Arizona State, Augusta, Georgia, Illinois, Iowa State, Oregon, Purdue, South Carolina, Southern California, UCLA, Virginia and Wake Forest. 
 
All teams will play 36 holes on Monday followed by 18 holes on Tuesday for the final round.  Tee times will take place beginning at 7:30 a.m., both days. 
 
Duke will feature a lineup of sophomore Katie Li, junior Andie Smith, senior Rylie Heflin, freshman Carla De Troia and freshman Anna Cañado Espinal
 
The Blue Devils are coming off collecting a fifth-place finish in the season-opening ANNIKA Intercollegiate presented by 3M earlier this month.  Duke turned in rounds of 291, 286 and 289 for a 2-over, 866.  Li posted a 5-under-par, 211, to finish tied for fourth, while Heflin turned in a career-best tied for 16th placement with a 1-over, 217.  Smith registered a second round of 7-under, 65, to tie a career-low score, while ended the event in a tie for 23rd. 
 
Duke opens play Monday morning beginning at 8:57 a.m., off hole No. 10 along with Arizona State and Oregon.  The Blue Devils will then tee off at 1:12 p.m., in the second round Monday afternoon.
