Washington Concludes Play At Fighting Irish Classic


SOUTH BEND, Ind. – The Washington men’s golf team wrapped up play at the Fighting Irish Classic on Monday, finishing 15th at Warren Golf Course.
 
The Huskies concluded the tournament at 55 shots over par, 895 strokes in total.
 
Finn Koelle led the day for the Huskies, firing his second straight 71 to pace the Dawgs and finish tied for 28th overall, seven shots over for the weekend. The sophomore highlighted his round with an eagle on hole No. 5, also birdying the 17th hole.
 
Abel Derksen matched his career-low round of 73, ending the day three-over to set a new career-low 54-hole score at 222, 12-over overall. Derksen’s T53rd finish was also the best of his young career.
 
Amilkar Bhana was next up for the Dawgs, shooting a nine-over 79 to finish 18-over for the tournament, tying for 75th.
 
Wrapping things up were Brock Maulding and Drew Warford, who carded an 80 and a 78, respectively, on the day. Maulding came in 80th overall at 20-over, while Warford’s 237 put him in 84th.
 
Washington will finish up its fall season Oct. 18-20 at the Golf Club of Georgia Collegiate in Marietta, Georgia. It will be the first time in 2024-25 that the Huskies have played a three-day tournament.
