MEDINAH, Ill. – Illinois women’s golf concluded the Illini Women’s Invitational at Medinah with an 11th-place finish, posting a total team score of 866 (+2) after 54 holes of play.
Lexanne Halama, competing as an individual, beat her career-best finish by placing in a tie for third place. She also achieved a personal milestone by setting a new career-low 54-hole score of 207 (-9). Halama recorded an impressive 17 birdies, second-most in among the field. She also set her career-low round with scores of 67 (-5) during both the first and second rounds.
Yurang Li finished the final round tied for 17th place, marking her best-career finish. She began with an impressive career-low score of 68 (-4) in the first round, which featured six birdies. After a solid second round of 73 (+1), she bounced back in the final round with a 71 (-1).
Brielle Mapanao moved up 18 spots to place tied for 34th. She tallied an eagle and three birdies in a bogey-free front nine. Mapanao also tied for third in par 4 scoring average (2.87, -4).
Victoria Zheng finished tied for 42nd after shooting a 75 (+3) to close out the event.
Anna Ritter finished tied 69th after a third round 76 (+4) and Erica Lee climbed seven spots after shooting a 73 (+1) in her final round, to finish tied for 75th.
Sophia Sulkar and Kylie Eaton, who competed as individuals, finished the tournament tied for 64th and 86th, respectively. Sulkar achieved her best career finish, tying her career low with a 71 (-1) in the second round and closing with a final round of 73 (+1). Eaton posted a 78 (+6) to finish the first event of her collegiate career.
Ole Miss secured the team title with a score of 30-under (834), while Auburn’s Anna Davis claimed the individual title at 13-under (203).
The Fighting Illini will return to action on Friday, Oct. 27, competing at the Landfall Tradition in Wilmington, N.C., hosted at the Country Club of Landfall.
