STOCKTON, Calif. (Oct. 15, 2024) – Junior Sam Renner and redshirt-sophomore Ben Borgida each went under par to lead Washington State Men’s Golf during the second round of play at the Visit Stockton Pacific Invitational Tuesday, played on the par-71, 6,566-yard Stockton Golf and Country Club.
As a team, the Cougars finished the second round at 1-under, 283, and remain tied for fifth overall at 4-under, 564. Host Pacific leads at 23-under while San Diego is two shots back at -21.
Freshman Dylan Burcham continues to lead WSU as he followed his 4-under, 67, from Monday with an even-par 71 Tuesday. Burcham had four birdies and four bogeys on his round as he ended his day tied for 11th overall. For the second-straight day, Renner completed his round at 1-under, 70. After five birdies on his front nine, including four-straight at one stretch, he couldn’t find any more on the back side, mixing in two bogeys to finish his first 36 holes at 2-under, 140, tied for 21st.
Borgida also posted a 1-under, 70, following his first round of 1-over to conclude the first two rounds at even-par, 142, tied for 34th overall. Borgida recorded three birdies on the front but managed just one on the back. Freshman Tate Bruggeman matched his opening-round 72 with another 1-over, 72, Tuesday. His round included two birdies against three bogeys as his 2-over, 146, has him tied for 46th overall after two rounds.
Graduate student Jakob Chicoyne completed his second 18 with a 2-over, 73, in a round that included just one birdie. His 36-hole score of 6-over, 148, places tied for 68th overall. Freshman Garrett Harrison, playing as an individual, followed his opening-round 71 with a 1-over 72 on Tuesday and sits tied for 42nd overall at 1-over, 143.
Play concludes at the Visit Stockton Pacific Invitational with a final 18 holes beginning at 7:45 a.m. Wednesday.
