CHAMPAIGN, Ill. – Fresh off a top-10 finish at the Black Desert Championship, Nick Hardy headlines a group of Illini in action in the professional ranks this week.
PGA TOUR
Hardy finished T8 last week at the Black Desert Championship in Ivins, Utah, carding a 16-under 268 (66-71-66-65) at Black Desert Resort. It marked Hardy’s best individual finish of the year and his second top-25 finish of the season.
He will tee off this week, alongside fellow Illinois alumnus Adrien Dumont de Chassart, in the field at the Shriner’s Children’s Open at TPC Summerlin in Las Vegas, Nevada. Dumont de Chassart will be in search of his second made cut of the month after a T55 finish at the Sanderson Farms Championship to begin October.
DP WORLD TOUR
Matthis Besard is also in action this week as the DP World Tour tees off at the Estrella Damm N.A. Andalucia Masters at Real Club de Golf Sotogrande in San Roque, Andalucia in southern Spain.
Besard has made the cut in each of his last two starts on the DP World Tour, tying for 39th at the acciona Open de Espana to close out September, followed by a T43 finish two weeks ago at the Alfred Dunhill Links Championship.
Q-SCHOOL UPDATE
Several Illini are in action in the first stage of Q-School this week.
Larry Blatt is playing in West Palm Beach, Florida; Tyler Goecke is playing in Bermuda Run, North Carolina; and Michael Feagles is competing in Albuquerque, New Mexico.
Additionally, the Q-School site at Magnolia Grove features a trio of Illini alums in Piercen Hunt, Jerry Ji, and Tommy Kuhl.
