Every Birdie Made Will Raise Money Towards Play For Her Initiative
STANFORD – For the third straight year, the California women’s golf team will be taking part in the “Play For Her” initiative – an annual campaign that raises funds for breast cancer research – at the Stanford Intercollegiate hosted by Dr. Condoleezza Rice.
Coming off a second-place finish at the Molly Invitational earlier this month, the No. 22 Golden Bears will compete at the par-71, 6,269-yard Stanford Golf Course this Friday through Sunday.

Liu and Fouillet led Cal to its lowest-ever scoring average (291.1) last season, with Liu breaking the program’s best individual 18-hole average (72.4) and Fouillet (72.7) coming in at No. 2 all time while setting a new freshman record. Fouillet has been the Bears’ low scorer in both of their tournaments this season, placing 11th at the season-opening ANNIKA Intercollegiate (-2) and earning her highest career finish of third place at the Molly Invitational (-5). Both Fouillet and Liu are coming off a final round at the Molly where they each carded a 5-under-par 67, just one stroke shy of the program’s single-round 18-hole record.
PLAY FOR HER
In 2023, the Play For Her initiative – dedicated to longtime Cal head coach Nancy McDaniel – raised over $290,000 in the fight against breast cancer. This year’s campaign is dedicated to two-time breast cancer survivor and Arizona State head coach Missy Far-Kaye and her late sister, Heather Farr, who was diagnosed at the age of 23 and lost her battle five years later.
