Two from Women’s Golf in Top-10 at Stanford Intercollegiate

Stanford, Calif. – Sun Devil Women’s Golf moved up a spot at the Stanford Intercollegiate thanks to another strong score on Saturday.

In a field that features eight of the Top-25 teams in the initial Scoreboard rankings, No. 4 Arizona State (+2/570) is in fourth place in the 19-team event. Host No. 3 Stanford has the lead at -9, with No. 7 Texas, No. 12 Virginia, and No. 14 USC rounding out the rest of the Top-5. The Maroon and Gold improved their score by two strokes and added 13 more birdies to their total. ASU continues to lead the field in par three scoring, currently sitting at three-under with no other team under par.

The Sun Devils continue to be sparked by junior Beth Coutler, as she delivered another excellent round. Coulter finished with a 69 (-2), going under par for the second straight day. She maintained her positioning in a tie for second. Freshman Isla McDonald-O’Brien joins Coulter in the Top-10, as she put together a 70 (-1) for the second consecutive day which has her tied for ninth. Junior Paula Schulz-Hanssen makes it three Sun Devils in the Top-16, as she shot even (71) to settle into a tie for 16th. Grace Summerhays improved her score by four strokes and moved 17 spots up the leaderboard.

Head Coach Missy Farr-Kaye‘s team is still in contention for the team lead, with Beth Coulter sitting only one stroke back in the individual race. Isla McDonald-O’Brien is in position for her first Top-10 finish, while Paula Schulz-Hanssen looks to seal her 14th career Top-20 finish. The Sun Devils will play the tournament with only four golfers, as Patience Rhodes withdrew prior to the event due to injury. Despite the circumstances, ASU has still delivered a competitive effort through two days. Arizona State will have one final chance to make a move as the final round begins via shotgun start tomorrow at 8:30 AM MST.
