ALPHARETTA, Ga. – USC men’s golf climbs up one spot on the leaderboard into fifth out of 14 teams, with three individuals within the top 25 after round two at the Golf Club of Georgia Collegiate on Saturday, Oct. 19, at the Golf Club of Georgia in Alpharetta, Ga.
The Trojans moved into fifth amongst a field of 14 teams, counting a 70-70-73-73 (286, -2), bringing their two-round total to 573 (-3). UCLA leads the tournament at 16-under par (560).
Senior Gavin Aurilia and junior Antonio Safa posted the two under-par rounds for USC, recording 70’s (-2) on the round. Aurilia fired three birdies and one bogey, including a bogeyless front nine. Safa had some late success as he birdied two of the last six holes to move him from even-par to two-under par for the day. Aurilia leads the team individually as he is tied for 10th at two-under par, with Safa and Buchanan just one shot back, tied for 13th at one-under par.
Freshman Jack Buchanan continued his solid play, finishing round two at one-over par 73. The freshman started on hole No. 10 and recorded a 38 (+2) on the back nine but found his groove on the front, going bogeyless and birding No. 8 to give him a 35 (-1) for the side.
Sophomore Jack Jerge was the last counting score in round two as he was one-over par and is now one-over par overall; Jerge is tied for 33rd.
Sophomore Nicolas Dominguez fired a two-over par 74 on the day, is currently at 6 over par for the tournament in a tie for 59th.
USC competes in the final round of the Golf Club of Georgia Collegiate starting at 6:25 a.m. PT/9:25 a.m. ET tomorrow at the Golf Club of Georgia.
