Five Blue Devils Set for LPGA Qualifying Stage in Florida

VENICE, Fla. – Five different former Duke women’s golf standouts are set to compete in the 2024 LPGA Qualifying Stage, which will take place Oct. 22-25 at the Plantation Golf and Country Club in Venice, Fla. Hitting the links this week will be Laetitia Beck, Anne Chen, Gina Kim, Emma McMyler and Erica Shepherd.

A total of 195 golfers, including 19 amateurs, have tee times set for the week on both the Plantation Golf and Country Club Bobcat and Panther Courses.  The golfers will compete in a 72-hole stroke play format with no cut.

The Duke golfers range from 2014 graduate Beck to Kim (2021), Shepherd (2023), Chen (2024) and McMyler (2024).

McMyler, a recent graduate of the Duke Fuqua School of Business, competed in the prequalifying stage in August and carded rounds of 69, 71, 72 and 68 for an 8-under, 280, to finish tied for 15th overall.  The other four golfers played on the LPGA and Epson Tours this past season.

To be eligible to compete in Final Qualifying, a golfer must have a finish position within the Top 35 and ties at the Qualifying Stage in Venice and meet all other eligibility criteria for LPGA Membership. If a player finishes within the Top 35 and ties and she is not eligible or able to compete in Final Qualifying, or she chooses not to compete. In that case, her vacated Final Qualifying spot will not be allocated to another player.

Those golfers who complete all four rounds of the Qualifying tournament but do not advance to Final Qualifying will receive Epson Tour status based on their finish.  At Final Qualifying in December, the top 25 finishers and ties will earn 2025 LPGA Tour status, while all players who complete at least four rounds will secure 2025 Epson Tour status.
