Clemson Finishes Sixth at Steelwood Collegiate – Clemson Tigers Official Athletics Site

CLEMSON, S.C. — Andrew Swanson shot an eight-under par 64 on Sunday to lead Clemson to a sixth-place team finish out of 14 teams at the Steelwood Collegiate in Loxley, Alabama. The two-day, 54 hole event was held at the par 72 Steelwood Golf Club.

Clemson improved from 10th place to sixth with its team round of 10-under-par 278 on Sunday. Clemson’s 278 score was third best among the 14 teams and Clemson’s four-place improvement was the biggest move up the standings in the final round. The tournament concluded Clemson’s fall schedule.

Swanson finished his fall strong with an 11th place finish at the Golf Club of Georgia last week, and his second place finish at the Steelwood was the second best individual finish of his career. It was the highest individual finish by a Clemson golfer this year.

He had rounds of 69-70-64 for a 203 total, 13 under par for the 54 holes. His performance included 19 birdies and an eagle. His 64 on Sunday included nine birdies. The 64 was the second best 18-hole score of his career, as he had a 63 at the Ka’anapali Classic in Hawaii on October 30. 2023.

Freshman Rich Wills and senior Kian Rose supported Swanson with rounds of three under par 69 on Sunday. Wills finished with an even-par score of 216 for the 54 holes, good enough for 33rd place, while Rose finished at 217, 37th place.

Clemson’s 10-under par and 278 team scores on Sunday were the best of the season in both categories.

Freshman Colin Salema shot a 76 on Sunday to finish at 224 for the 54 holes, while Sean Curran had a 78 on Sunday and finished with a 229 total for the tournament.

Lucas Augustsson played the tournament as an individual and finished 28th with a 215 score. His tournament included a second round 64, his best as a Tiger. He finished the tournament with 12 birdies and an eagle.

Twelfth ranked Illinois won the tournament with a score of 30-under-par 838. Nick Mason of Kansas State won medalist honors with a 14-under-par score of 202, one shot better than Swanson.
