KAILUA-KONA, Hawaii – The Washington women’s golf team opened up play at the Nanea Invitational Monday, finishing the day in seventh place at four over.
Vivian Lu led the way for the Dawgs at three-under 73, recording five birdies on the day and in a tie for sixth on the player leaderboard.
Carmen Lim finished even on the day in a tie for 21st place.
“We are getting closer to playing to our capabilities,” said Head Coach Mary Mulflur. “Just need to eliminate the unforced errors. Really pleased with Carmen’s performance today, especially with a birdie on the last hole. Viv continues to play stellar golf. She is in a nice groove right now. Tomorrow is another opportunity for us to get better.”
Stanford is leading the tournament after one day at 13-under on an opening day that produced a handful of low scores. Arizona State stands at 11-under and San Jose State in third at six-under.
The Dawgs will tee off Tuesday at 10:30 a.m. at Nanea Golf Club.
Vivian Lu will start off hole 6, Carmen Lim off hole 7, Jenny Chang off hole 8, Mads Smith off hole 9, and Kennedy Knox off hole 10.
