Fischer Leads Cal With Her Best Round Of The Season
KAILUA-KONA, Hawaii – Marie-Agnes Fischer shot 1-under par for the second time in her freshman season and the California women’s golf team carded an 8-over 300 to remain in sixth place following round two of the Nanea Invitational on Tuesday.
Fischer’s strong round – which included her sinking a team-best six birdies – saw her jump 17 spots into 24th place individually. After starting out on hole 10, she notched her second and third birdies on holes 15 and 16. She later finished the round with a hot stretch, getting three more birdies on holes 4, 6 and 7.
Three Golden Bears carded a 3-over 76 on the day. Senior Kaylyn Noh (71-76) finished as Cal’s leader for the second straight round. She heads into Wednesday 1-over for the tournament and in 21st place.
Both senior Jieming Yang (74-76) and sophomore Constance Fouillet (74-76) found themselves 1-under on the back nine before settling at 3-over. After matching each other’s scores for the second consecutive day, they head into round three tied for 30th place. Junior Adora Liu (75-77) finished one shot behind them, carding a 4-over 77.
The final round at Nanea Golf Club will tee off Wednesday at 10:30 a.m. PT with Cal once again sitting three strokes shy of the top five of the team standings.
