CORAL GABLES, Fla. – For the second straight tournament, the University of Miami golf team earned the title of champion, placing first out of 11 teams at the 2024 Hurricane Invitational Tuesday afternoon.
The Hurricanes led after all three rounds of action, ultimately posting a 54-hole score of 852 (-12) on the par-72, 6,175-yard course at the Biltmore Golf Course.
Junior Olivia Grønborg shot a 208 (-8) to win her first individual title of the season. Grønborg shot par-or-better in all three rounds and totaled 11 birdies and an eagle across 72 holes.
Freshman Sofie Hlinomazová played her best golf as a Hurricane this week, shooting a 214 (-2) to finish in third-place. Sophomore Rebekah Gardner tallied her first top-five finish of the season after recording a 54-hole score of 215 (-1) to place tied for fourth.
Freshman Cloe Amion Villarino recorded her second consecutive top-10 finish after placing tied for sixth with an even-par 54-hole score of 216, while sophomore Barbora Bujáková shot a 221 (+5) to finish tied for 22nd.
Playing as individuals, sophomore Aada Rissanen and junior Katie Carman finished tied for 20th (220; +4) and 58th (240; +24), respectively.
Florida Gulf Coast placed second with a 54-hole score of 871 (+7), 19 strokes behind the Hurricanes. South Alabama finished the tournament in third after shooting 872 (+8) across three rounds.
The Hurricanes take a break for the winter months and will return to action on Feb. 2-4 at the Therese Hession Regional Challenge in Palos Verdes, Calif.
