Noh Shoots 3-Under In Round 3, Places Top-15
KAILUA-KONA, Hawaii – Senior Kaylyn Noh closed out the Nanea Invitational with her best round of the season, carding a 3-under-par 70 to help lift the California women’s golf team to a fifth-place finish in its final tournament of the fall Wednesday at Nanea Golf Club.
Within a field that included three top-10 nationally-ranked teams, Cal earned its second top-five finish of the year with a 15-over 891 team score.
“This is an exciting place to be because this golf course is absolutely stunning, it’s in incredible shape, the layout is challenging, and it pushes you on all your golf skills,” Cal head coach Sofie Aagaard said. “This was a strong field, so it’s a pleasure to come here and compete.”
It was the fourth time that Noh (71-76-70) has shot 3-under or better since last season. She ended each day as the Golden Bears’ leader to settle in 15th place individually.
Following a strong second round on Tuesday, Marie-Agnes Fischer (76-72-76) ended as the Bears’ second-lowest scorer. The freshman was one of three Bears to shoot 3-over on the day, joined by sophomore Constance Fouillet (74-76-76) and junior Adora Liu (75-77-76). Fischer placed 29th for her second top-30 finish in four tries.
Senior Jieming Yang (74-76-75) shot 2-over on the day to finish in 31st place at 6-over 225. It was her lowest score since the 2022 Pac-12 Preview.
“What’s encouraging with this team is that on any given day, any of our players can have the low score,” Aagaard said. “That’s encouraging, it shows that we have some depth and we don’t rely on the exact same players all the time. Of course we would love to see everything come together at the same time, and that’s what we’re hoping for and build on some more consistency in our performances.”
The Bears will be off from competition until the Therese Hession Regional Challenge on Feb. 2-4 at Palos Verde Country Club.
