One of the best to play the collegiate game, University of Missouri women’s golf head coach Caroline Westrup can now add WGCA Hall of Fame to her outstanding resume. The third-year head coach was announced as the newest member of the WGCA Players Hall of Fame on Tuesday and will be formally inducted Dec. 9 at the Women’s Golf Coaches Association annual banquet.
The first four-time All-American in the history of Florida State women’s golf, Westrup collected first-team All-America accolades by the WGCA in 2006 and 2007. She helped lead the Seminoles to four trips to the NCAA Tournament, including a team appearance at the NCAA Finals in 2006 and individual invitations in 2007 and 2008. Her 12th-place finish at the 2007 national championship was the highest individual finish by an FSU golfer.
Overall, Westrup claimed five individual titles in 37 career events, posting 18 top-10 finishes. She was also the program’s first four-time All-ACC honoree and was inducted into the FSU Athletic Hall of Fame in 2019. Westrup posted a 73.23 career stroke average, which was the best in school history at her time of graduation.
“To be inducted into the Women’s Golf Coaches Association Player Hall of Fame is a huge honor for me,” Westrup said. “College was four amazing years with my coaches and teammates. I share this award with all of them. Florida state has a huge place in my heart and I will always bleed Garnet and Gold.”
In addition to her accolades on the course, Westrup excelled in the classroom as well. She earned a spot on the CoSIDA Academic All-District team twice, the WGCA All-American Scholar Team three times and the All-ACC Academic team on four occasions during her career.
Westrup then embarked on a professional playing career. She competed on the LPGA, LET and Symetra Tours and won two professional events, the LET’s 2005 Ladies Finnish Masters (while still an amateur) and the Symetra’s 2015 Sioux Falls GreatLIFE Challenge.
Now in her third season at Mizzou, Westrup has made an early impact with the Tigers. After fielding one of the nation’s youngest teams in her debut season with numerous program milestones, Westrup took Mizzou to another level in her second campaign. During the 2023-24 season, Missouri set a program record with a 293.1 stroke average – nearly a six-stroke improvement from the season before…
