Brooks Add Pair of Top-Rated Recruits for 2025-26

DURHAM, N.C. – Duke women’s golf head coach Dan Brooks announced Wednesday the signing of two of the top-rated recruits nationally with the addition of Rianne Malixi and Avery McCrery.  The duo will join the Blue Devils in the fall of 2025.

Malixi and McCrery have combined to win 14 events on the American Junior Golf Association (AJGA) and two United States Golf Association (USGA) Championships.  The tandem has also posted 33 top five, 50 top 10 and 60 top 20 finishes over their careers on the AJGA.

In the latest AJGA rankings for the 2025 class, McCrery is No. 2 and Malixi is No. 4, while Malixi is also the No. 4 ranked amateur in the World Amateur Golf Ranking (WAGR).

“I’m extremely excited to welcome Avery and Rianne onto our team,” said Brooks.  “They both play outstanding golf. More importantly, they’re both great people who want to learn and grow.  They have their sights set on big things, in golf and beyond.  Both will set great examples for their teammates.”

Malixi, who hails from Manila, Philippines, has turned in a very impressive 2024 campaign with wins at the U.S. Women’s Amateur, U.S. Girls’ Junior and the Australian Master of the Amateurs.  She also collected a runner-up placement at the Junior Invitational at Sage Valley, fourth at the European Ladies Amateur, tied for fifth at the KLPGA Korea Women’s Open and a tied for fifth finish at the Women’s Amateur Asia Pacific.

“Rianne has a beautiful Hogan-esque golf swing,” said Brooks.  “She’s relatively small in stature but powerful, solid in all parts of her game – as evidenced by her two big wins this summer (U.S. Women’s Amateur and U.S. Girls’ Junior).  The most exciting thing about Rianne is how determined she is to get better.”

With the wins in both the U.S. Women’s Amateur and U.S. Girls’ Junior this year, Malixi became just the second golfer to win two USGA Championships in the same calendar year.  Malixi was a 2022 AJGA First Team All-American and competed in the 2022 Wyndham Cup and was a member of the 2022 Junior All-Star Team.  She owns seven career wins on the AJGA, while adding 12 top five finishes.

McCrery , a product of Wilmington, Del., has collected an impressive 2024 season as well with two wins at the Girls’ Junior PGA Championship and the Scott Robertson Memorial along with a tied for ninth…
