SOUTH BEND, Ind. – The University of Notre Dame women’s golf team has added three new members to the program who are set to join the team in fall 2025 in Sawyer Brockstedt, Taryn Cagle, and Jordan Levitt. The trio signed their Athletic Aid Agreement as part of National Signing Day, Wednesday.

Brockstedt is set to join the team from Rehoboth Beach, Delaware, where she has won three AJGA tournaments, boasts 15 top-10 AJGA finishes and was a co-medalist for the 2023 USGA Junior Girls Championship.

“I am so grateful and fortunate that I had many options to continue my golf career at the collegiate level, Brockstedt said. “It was important to me to find a university with a reputation for high academic standards, a golf team that could compete at the highest level, a supportive and caring coaching staff, and great team camaraderie. When I first visited the University of Notre Dame, the energy of the school and the entire community was different than what I had experienced at other schools. In addition to having a reputation as one of the leading universities in the country for academic excellence, I learned about the traditions of the university, the alumni support, and the vision for athletic department generally and for the men’s and women’s golf teams through the eyes of Athletic Director, Pete Bevacqua, Director of Golf John Handrigan, and through my interactions with Coach Caroline and Coach Kari. I admire and respect the golf program they have built, and I am excited for what lies ahead. Finally, I am thrilled to be joining a team with such great players. Although I am looking forward to finishing high school and enjoying my senior year, I could not be more excited to join the Irish family in the fall of 2025.”

Brockstedt recently qualified for the 2023 USGA Women’s Amateur and recorded top-10 finishes at the 2023 Dye Invitational and 2022 Buick Shanshan AJGA Girls Invitational. She’s twice been a member of the Delaware State High School Championship winning team and was a 2020 US Kids Teen World Champion.

“Sawyer knows how to win and brings extensive experience competing on the national stage,” Head Coach Caroline Powers Ellis said. “She is an amazing student, golfer, and person but what is most impressive is how she continues to seek out the more challenging path in everything she does order to continue to improve and grow.”
