DURHAM, N.C. – The Duke women’s golf class of 2025, which includes Rianne Malixi and Avery McCrery, has been tabbed the No. 1 class in the nation by Golfweek. In addition, Malixi was rated No. 1 individually and McCrery was listed No. 3 overall as well.
The recruiting classes were ranked in the following order – Duke, Texas A&M, South Carolina, Vanderbilt and Southern California.
Both Malixi and McCrery officially signed with Duke this week and feature very impressive amateur resumes of their own.
The future Duke tandem have combined to win 14 tournaments on the American Junior Golf Association (AJGA) and two United States Golf Association (USGA) Championships. The tandem has also posted 33 top five, 50 top 10 and 60 top 20 finishes over their careers on the AJGA.
A native of Manila, Philippines, Malixi has turned in a very impressive 2024 campaign with victories at the U.S. Women’s Amateur, U.S. Girls’ Junior and the Australian Master of the Amateurs. She also collected a runner-up placement at the Junior Invitational at Sage Valley, fourth at the European Ladies Amateur, tied for fifth at the KLPGA Korea Women’s Open and a tied for fifth finish at the Women’s Amateur Asia Pacific.
With the wins in both the U.S. Women’s Amateur and U.S. Girls’ Junior this year, Malixi became just the second golfer to win two USGA Championships in the same calendar year.
McCrery, a product of Wilmington, Del., has collected an impressive 2024 season as well with two wins at the Girls’ Junior PGA Championship and the Scott Robertson Memorial along with a tied for ninth finish at the Rolex Girls Junior Championship and tied for 10th at the Fortinet Girls Invitational at Stanford.
Over her AJGA career, McCrery owns seven victories and 21 top five finishes. She also competed in the 2024 Junior Solheim Cup with the United States along with being a member on the 2022 Junior All-Star Team.
The duo will arrive in Durham in August and team with returning letterwinners Andie Smith, Katie Li, Anna Cañado Espinal, Carla De Troia and Martina Yu in 2025-26 under the direction of Duke head coach Dan Brooks and associate head coach Jon Whithaus.
