THOUSAND OAKS, Calif. – Florida men’s golfer Ian Gilligan led the Gator in day two of the Southwestern Invitational with a 4-under 67 and enters two shots off the lead into the final round.
Florida combined for a team score of 3-under 281, marking a 12-shot difference from the opening round at Sherwood Country Club to move up to 6th at 574 (+6). The next five teams atop the leaderboard feature Pepperdine (+3), Vanderbilt (+1), Texas (-2), San Diego State (-2) and UNLV (-4).
Gilligan recorded his fourth round in the 60’s in his eighth round this season, which also was season-low. The 4-under is tied for the second lowest round in the field. He climbed 20 spots and sits T3, two shots back of the lead. The Senior was 5-unde and bogey-free in his first 13 holes led by an eagle on the par-5 (572) fourth. Gilligan made three consecutive birdies on holes 9-11.

A pair of Gators in Luke Poulter (T29) and Jack Turner (T16) both shot rounds of 2-under 69. Poulter also made eagle on the par-5 fourth, the third UF golfer to make one (Gilligan & Kress). He made a seven shot improvement from his opening round while Turner had a five shot difference.
The rest of the lineup featured Parker Bell (T70) and Zack Swanwick (T38) each shot a round two of 76 (+5). Competing as an individual Matthew Kress is tied for 34th.
Florida concludes the final round of the spring opener at 12:55 p.m. ET.
