Bears Remain In Top 5



Yang, Liu Rise Up The Leaderboard

PALOS VERDES – The California women’s golf team ended a second straight round in the top five at the Therese Hession Regional Challenge, posting an 8-over-par 576 through 36 holes at Palos Verdes Golf Club.

Two Golden Bears posted under-par scores on Monday. Senior Jieming Yang (143, +1) moved into 13th place, carding her best round of the season with a 1-under 70. Yang put away three birdies and nine pars over her last 12 holes of the day.

Matching Yang at 1-under on the day was Adora Liu (149, +7). The junior had a team-best four birdies in round two, three of which came on a hot stretch from holes 13 through 16.

Liu rose 30 spots on the leaderboard into a tie with sophomore Constance Fouillet (149, +7). Fouillet carded a 4-over 75 on the day.

Senior Kaylyn Noh (142, E) remained the team’s leader, following up her historic opening round with a 5-over 76. She heads into Tuesday’s final round in 12th place individually.

Cal will begin the final round of its spring-opening tournament in a three-way tie for fifth place with No. 6 Oregon and No. 7 Arizona State at 9 a.m. PT on hole 10.
