Tournament Tidbits: Puerto Rico Classic


Rio Grande, PR. — The Wisconsin men’s golf team tees up the Spring season at the 2025 Puerto Rico Classic, running Monday, Feb. 10 through Wednesday, Feb. 12 in Rio Grande, Puerto Rico.

THE TOURNAMENT: 

The 32nd-annual Puerto Rico Classic will be a three-day format with 18 holes being played each day. 

THE FIELD: 

Teams competing along with Wisconsin include Purdue, College of Charleston, LSU, Georgia, Iowa, Marquette, Minnesota, Oklahoma, Ole Miss, South Carolina, Tennessee, Ohio State, North Florida, and Virginia.

Wisconsin’s lineup is 1. Jacob Beckman 2. William Harned 3. Graham Moody 4. Charles Erlandson 5. Evan Myers 

James Boustead will be competing as an individual. 

THE COURSE: 

This event will be hosted at the Grand Reserve Country Club in Rio Grande for the fourth year in the tournament’s history. The course is located on a beachfront peninsula and is known to have the El Yunque rainforest as a backdrop

LAST TIME OUT: 

Wisconsin returns to action after having last competed at the Fallen Oak Collegiate Invitational, Oct. 19-21. The Badgers finished ninth in the event hosted by Ole Miss in Biloxi, Miss.

 

The highlight of the Badgers’ Fall season was at the Badger Invitational, where they finished in a tie for second place as a team. At the tournament, freshmen William Harned and Jason Shwartz led the Badgers, each earning top-five finishes behind career-best performances.
