Huskies Conclude Opening Day Of Alice & John Wallace Golf Classic

PALM DESERT, Calif. – The Washington women’s golf team concluded the opening day of the Alice & John Wallace Women’s Golf Classic in Palm Desert, Calif.

Vivian Lu led the Dawgs finishing two-under par 71. The sophomore recorded three birdies, including two on back-to-back holes on the 14th and 15th.

Every Husky recorded at least one birdie on the day, including Jenny Chang, Carmen Lim, and Wendy Tang who each notched two.

Lu is in a tie for fifth place after one round, and UW as a team is in a tie for fifth place in the tournament after 18 holes.

Oregon (-8) and USC (-1) are leading the way in the top two spots after 18 holes. San Jose State (+2) and Long Beach State (+5) are right behind with the next two lowest scores with Washington and Pepperdine (+6) in a tie for fifth.

“Little bit up and down today,” said Head Coach Mary Lou Mulflur. “Slow start, good in the middle, and not a great ending. I was pleased with how they managed things out of their control. Just need to get some putts to fall for us in the next couple of days.”

UW will have a shotgun start on Sunday morning at 8:30 a.m. for round two of the tournament before closing out play on Monday.
