LA QUINTA, Calif. (Feb. 18, 2025) – Washington State junior Sam Renner posted a second-straight round under par and remains near the top of the leaderboard following the second round at The Prestige Tuesday, played on the par-71, 7,127-yard Greg Norman Course at PGA West.

As a team, the Cougars finished the round at 13-over par and in 23rd position with a two-round score of 593, +25. San Diego sits atop the field after two rounds at 11-under, 577.

He then reeled off nine-straight pars before a birdie on the par 5, 12th, put him back in red numbers. Two more birdies sandwiched between three pars put him at 3-under before ending his round with a bogey on the par 4, 18th. For the day, Renner posted four birdies and two bogeys to shoot 2-under, 69, and now sits tied for second overall at 6-under, 136, one shot behind Kobe Valociek of Kansas State

Redshirt senior Drayton Joseph was even-par after five holes before taking an 8 on the par 4 sixth. A birdie, bogey and 10 pars the rest of the way resulted in a 4-over, 75, giving Joseph a two-round score of +7, 149, tied for 88th overall.

Senior Franklin Lydra improved two strokes over his opening round as he finished Tuesday at 5-over, 76. Lydra’s round included a birdie on the par 3, fourth, along with 12 pars as he enters Wednesday’s final round at 12-ove, 154, tied for 107th. Redshirt-sophomore Ben Borgida began his day with five-straight birdies before going five-over on the next four holes. Back-to-back birdies on 11 and 12 were the bright spot on the round as he finished his second 18 holes at 6-over, 77, matching his first-round score. Borgida is tied with Lydra at +12, 144, in 107th place.
