WSU Opens Spring With Trip to Arizona for Westbrook Invitational


PULLMAN, Wash. (February 22, 2025) – Washington State Women’s Golf opens its spring season with a trip to Peoria, Ariz. for the Westbrook Invitational hosted by the University of Wisconsin Sunday and Monday.

The Course and Tournament Format

The Westbrook Invitational will be held at the Westbrook Village Golf Club – Vistas Course in Peoria, Ariz.

 

The course will play as a par-72 at 6,248 yards.

Teams will play 36 holes Sunday and 18 Monday. Sunday and Monday will both have a shotgun start at 8:30 a.m.

The Field

In addition to Washington State and host Wisconsin, Chattanooga, Colorado State, Kansas, Kansas State, Louisiana-Monroe, Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska, Penn State, Sam Houston, South Florida and UNLV will make up the 14-team field.

Last Time Out

Washington State Women’s Golf closed out the fall season tying for sixth in the Clash at Boulder Creek in October. A day after the Cougars matched the school-record for lowest team score in a round, senior Sarah Skovgaard Bils fired a two-under final round 70 to post her third Top-25 finish of the fall. Senior Madelyn Gamble tallied three birdies to card a final-round 72 and tie for 14th, her best finish of the fall. Freshman Grace Rubelsky also posted her best tournament of the fall, tying for 35th after shooting one-over for the tournament while sophomore Alcie Johansson tied for 31st. Monday’s second-record team score of eight-under tied the program record set in the third round of the 2007 UNLV Spring Rebel Invite, at the same course in Boulder Creek.

 

Gamble, Johansson Named Preseason All-WCC

Madelyn Gamble and Alice Johansson of Washington State Women’s Golf were both named to the Preseason All-West Coast Conference Team. Gamble, a senior from Pleasant Hill, Calif., played in last year’s NCAA Regional after earning an at-large selection. Gamble finished last season with a 73.22 scoring average, the third-best average in program history while posting eight Top-25 finishes including a pair in the Top-10. Gamble had a pair of Top-20 finishes this past fall, tying for 18th in the season-opening Bettie Lou Evans…
