Fouillet Ends Day 1 In The Top-5

VALENCIA – Led by sophomore Constance Fouillet, the California women’s golf team ended day one of the Bruin Wave Invitational on Monday in seventh place with a 38-over par 614 team score.

Fouillet (146, +2) closed out each of the first two rounds as Cal’s leader, carding a 2-over 74 over the first 18 holes and an even-par 72 in round two, ending the day in fourth-place individually.

The Golden Bears’ lowest scorer on the year had three birdies in both rounds, also putting away an eagle on her 8th hole of the morning. Among the golfers who placed top-10 on the day, Fouillet was the only one who improved her score by at least two strokes in the second round, which saw her move up 11 spots from the end of the previous round.

Competing as an individual, freshman Marie-Agnes Fischer (151, +7) finished the day in 20th place, shooting 4-over 76 in round one and 3-over 75 in round two. Senior Kaylyn Noh (153, +9) also placed in the top 25.

Senior Jieming Yang (157, +13) and junior Anna Molloy (158, +14) rounded out Cal’s contributing scorers.

The Bears will tee off the final round Tuesday morning at 7:30 a.m. PT.
