Desmarchais Tied for 12th; Vols in Seventh After Round One at Cabo Collegiate


CABO SAN LUCAS, Mexico – Tennessee men’s golfer Laurent Desmarchais sits inside the top 15 after one round at the Cabo Collegiate as the Vols are in seventh as a team. 

Desmarchais gave the Vols an even-par 71 in round one and is tied for 12th ahead of Monday’s round. 

UT opened the event with a 293 (+9) and is five shots outside the top four ahead of round two. 

Josh Hill gave Tennessee its second-best round of the day after firing a 72. The junior is currently tied for 17th and one shot outside the top 12. 

Pearce Lewin, who is competing individually, carded a 73 to open the tournament. The freshman enters round two tied for 27th. 

Lance Simpson provided the Vols’ third counting score of the day after shooting a 74. The redshirt senior is tied for 33rd ahead of the second round. 

Evan Woosley-Reed provided Tennessee’s final contributing round of the day after carding a 76 and enters day two tied for 50th. 

Freshman Jackson Herrington shot an 83 in round one and sits in 79th.
