ASU Women’s Golf Wraps up Darius Rucker

HILTON HEAD ISLAND, S.C. – Defending Darius Rucker Intercollegiate Champions Sun Devil Women’s Golf finished in fifth of the 2025 edition of one of college golf’s most prestigous events.

No. 8 Arizona State (+20/872) faced a tough setup at Long Cove Club, as no team finished better than 11-over par. Despite the challenges, the Sun Devils still managed to finish in the top-third of a 15-team field. The Maroon and Gold were led by Patience Rhodes, who finished in a tie for sixth place in a loaded field. It is Rhodes’ fifth Top-10 finish of the year, as her breakout season continues. Paula Schulz-Hanssen and Isla McDonald-O’Brien joined Rhodes in the Top-20 of a decorated 90-golfer field.

Arizona State is back in the Clover Cup for the first time since 2021, giving fans an opportunity to check out the squad at another local event. Hosted by Notre Dame at Wigwam Golf Club in Litchfield Park, the Sun Devils will look to duplicate the success they had at this event in 2021. Coach Farr-Kaye’s team shot a tournament-best 277 — with Olivia Mehaffey’s school-record 62 leading the way — to come back from six strokes down after the second round to win the Clover Cup by three over Arizona. ASU shot 16-under 848 (288-283-277) to top second-round leader Arizona (281-284-286=851), with Mehaffey’s historic round sparking the late charge. 

Linn Grant added to her incredible collegiate resume, winning her fifth individual championship. Dating back to a victory at the Dr. Donnis Thompson Invitational last season, Grant has won or shared individual medalist honors at five consecutive events, accomplishing an incredible feat.
