IJAMSVILLE, MD — The Maryland men’s golf won the inaugural Testudo Cup event Sunday at the P.B. Dye Golf Course in Ijamsville, Md. Sophomore Yang Kuang won his first individual collegiate title as three Terrapins finished in the top 10.
The Terrapins won their first team title under third-year head coach John Phillips and first since 2015. As a team, Maryland went 11 strokes under par with a score of 853 (289-277-287)
Kuang shot a 209 on the weekend, going -7 overall. He shot a 70 in the first round, a career-best 67 in the second round and a 72 in the third and final round Sunday.
Huerlimann tied for third with a score of 213 (72-71-70), which was -3 overall. This was his first top five collegiate finish.
Sophomore Emil Riegger tied for eighth for his second top 10 finish this year. Riegger finished with a score of 215 (76-69-70), which was -1.
Freshman Benjamin Siriboury tied for 15th for his second straight top 15 finish. He shot a 217 (72-70-75), which was +1.
Sophomore Manato Nakantani tied for 29th with a score of 222 (75-72-75), which was +6.
Freshman Will Gregware earned a score of 224 (75-74-75), which was +8, competing as an individual. Junior Armand Papaziani earned a score of 228 (74-77-77).
