Troon chosen to manage Schaffer’s Mill in Truckee, California

Troon will oversee management operations at Schaffer’s Mill in Truckee, California, located near Lake Tahoe. Troon Prive, Troon’s private club division, will oversee agronomy, food & beverage and sales and marketing.

Schaffer’s Mill is a year-round private club and community, offering an 18-hole golf course designed by Johnny Miller and John Harbottle with two distinct nine-hole sections in addition to multiple family-oriented amenities. The course’s “Meadow” nine spins outward among a variety of trees at the base of a ridge, while the “Mountain” nine features elevation changes of 400 feet. The entire course showcases views of the Martis Valley, Lookout Mountain and the Carson Range.

The club is close to Northstar ski resort and offers a private lounge called Schaffer’s Mill Basecamp at Northstar Village in the winter months, where members can access ski and snowboard storage, boot dryers and foot lockers, as well as drinks and snacks.

The club also houses The Sawyer restaurant, which features an indoor/outdoor bar with views of both the golf course and the mountain range, as well as Peg’s Poolside, a poolside venue for small groups.

The housing community at Schaffer’s Mill comprises 400 single-family homes and features a vacation rentals program that gives access to the club’s amenities, including the restaurant, pool, locker rooms, spa and golf course.
