Cal Earns No. 6 Seed At Gold Canyon Regional
BERKELEY – The surging California women’s golf team is headed back to the postseason as the Golden Bears received the No. 6 seed at the NCAA Gold Canyon Regional.
Cal will be making its fourth straight NCAA regional appearance and 24th in the past 25 years.
The Gold Canyon Regional will be held May 5-7 at Superstition Mountain Golf and Country Club. The top five teams from each of the six, 12-team regionals across the country will advance to the 2025 NCAA Championships, to be held May 16-21 in Carlsbad, California.
“We are excited to be selected for the Gold Canyon Regional and the opportunity to compete for a spot in the NCAA finals,” Cal head coach Sofie Aagaard said. “We are also excited that we have a short trip to Arizona. We have about 10 days to go, and with the practice, preparation and play we have planned for here at home, our team will be ready to compete.”
The Bears are currently ranked 32nd nationally by SCOREBOARD and enter the postseason on a strong note, having advanced to the semifinals of last week’s ACC Championship after finishing in a tie for fifth out of 15 teams in stroke play and then defeating No. 11 Virginia in the first round of match play.
Cal also ended the regular season with a fourth-place finish at the Silverado Showdown in Napa, finishing ahead of No. 3 Oregon and No. 16 Arizona in the process.
Sophomore Constance Fouillet has led the charge for the Bears. She shot 5-under par at the Silverado Showdown to place in a tie for second place individually – the best finish for a Cal women’s golfer in over two years. She followed that up by tying for seventh place during stroke play at the ACC Championship to finish in a tie for seventh.
