Men's Golf Prepares to Tee Off at Big Ten Championship

Baltimore, MD. – The Rutgers men’s golf team heads to Baltimore on Friday, April 25th to compete for a conference title at the Big Ten Championship Tournament at Baltimore Country Club.

After wrapping their regular season at the Princeton Invitiational where they finished second overall and placed four golfers in the top 25, the Scarlet Knights will enter the Big Ten tournament with momentum on their side.

Rutgers men’s golf’s head coach Rob Shutte looks to see the fruits of a long, challenging season culminate this weekend in Baltimore.

“Camaraderie is really high right now, and I feel like we’re saving our best golf for the Big Ten’s,” Shutte said. “We are just trying to get better every day as we get set for one of the biggest events of the year. We’re playing some great courses for practice and we know what is going to present down there in Baltimore, we have to control the ball and two putt, and value pars again.”

All season the Scarlet Knights have looked to play complete golf and show that they can compete in a difficult Big Ten Conference, and Shutte knows what it will take to show that this weekend.

“For each guy it’s different on what they need to focus on, but overall when you have opportunities you have to take them at Baltimore Country Club,” Shutte said.

With the season coming to end, the Scarlet Knights look to battle through these last few challenges of the year, including the delicate student-athlete balance.

“We’re coming up on finals too, so we’re just making sure their bodies and minds are good, and making sure everyone is right,” Shutte said.

The Scarlet Knights tee off Friday, April 25th, with the final few swings of the season taking place on Sunday, April 27th.
