Cal Finishes Sixth In Stroke Play, Will Face Florida State In Quarterfinals
BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – The California men’s golf team finished tied for sixth place in 2025 ACC Championship stroke play and punched its ticket to the match play quarterfinals Saturday at The Club at Olde Stone.
Cal – which entered the conference tournament as the 12th seed – ended stroke play at 2-under-par 862 (287-284-291) and earned the sixth seed in match play, where it will face third-seeded and ninth-ranked (Scoreboard) Florida State in the quarterfinals at 6:20 a.m. PT Sunday.
Four Golden Bears completed stroke play among the top 25 individually, highlighted by redshirt freshman Sihao Cong’s 14th-place finish at 3-under par (72-69-72 – 213). Daniel Heo and Wenliang Xie tied for 22nd at even par while Ziqin (Eric) Zhou tied for 25th at 1-over.
The Bears started Saturday’s action in the middle of the second round after play was suspended due to inclement weather on Friday and picked up where they left off, polishing off a 4-under-par 284 that placed them firmly in the mix for match play. Cong shot 3-under-par 69 in the second round and was tied for 10th with 18 holes to play.
Cong and Heo paced the Bears in round three with even-par 72s as they wrapped up and 3-over 291.
