Riegger Earns All-Big Ten Honors


ROSEMONT, IL — Sophomore Emil Riegger of the Maryland men’s golf team was named to the All-Big Ten Second Team be the league’s head coaches Thursday.

Riegger transferred to Maryland from Drake before this season. He carried a scoring average of 70.6 this season. He picked up four top 10 finishes and seven top 20 finishes in eight events. Last weekend, Riegger tied for fifth at the Big Ten Championships and was named to the All-Big Ten Championship Team. Riegger went -1 overall with a score of 209 (68-70-71).

Riegger earned an NCAA Regionals bid Wednesday. He will compete in the Amherst Regional, hosted by Liberty, May 12-14 at the Poplar Grove Golf Club in Amherst, Va. Riegger is one of 10 individuals competing in the Amherst Regional and is seeded fourth out of the 10.

Senior Florian Huerlimann earned a Big Ten Sportsmanship Award from the league. Huerlimann competed in 35 events for the Terrapins over his four-year career. He was named to the PING All-Region Team in 2024 and the All-Big Ten Academic Team in 2023.
