STANFORD, Calif. — It has been a banner year for Stanford women’s golf in its first season as members of the Atlantic Coast Conference. As announced on Friday afternoon, Stanford landed all five in its starting lineup on the All-ACC team, with Meja Örtengren earning Freshman of the Year honors.

Stanford has the most All-ACC honorees in the conference with five, followed by Wake Forest with three. Stanford has never had five earn All-Conference honors in a single season, with four standing as the previous record on four occasions. The depth of the Cardinal is on display again, as last year, all five in the Stanford lineup earned All-America honors.

Örtengren was named the ACC Freshman of the Year in conjunction with the All-ACC team. A native of Linköping, Sweden, Örtengren has been incredible during her first collegiate season. Her scoring average of 69.95 is actively the fourth lowest for a single season in program history, and she has finished in the top-10 in every stroke play tournament this season. She only has three rounds over par this year, and two of those came during the ACC Championship, where she still finished tied for seventh.

With five top-five finishes to her name this year, Örtengren has not just been the best freshman in the conference, but one of the best golfers in the country. She shot a second-round 62 at the San Diego State Classic in February, the eighth-lowest round in NCAA women’s golf history, tying the program record for most strokes under par in a single round (10). That led to her first collegiate win, beating the field by eight strokes, the largest individual win in program history.

A Cardinal has won a conference Freshman of the Year award five years in a row, dating back to Rachel Heck in 2021. Stanford’s current roster now features three winners of a conference Freshman of the Year award. Megha Ganne and Paula Martín Sampedro won the awards in the Pac-12 the last two years. Rose Zhang was also a former Freshman of the Year winner in the Pac-12 in 2022.

Behind Örtengren, Megha Ganne, Kelly Xu, Paula Martín Sampedro, and Andrea Revuelta all earned All-ACC honors. This marks the third time in three seasons for Ganne, and the second year in a row for both Xu and Martín Sampedro. Revuelta earned an automatic spot on this year’s All-ACC team by winning the individual conference championship in Greensboro last month.
