Senior Ffion Tynan is set to represent University of Missouri women’s golf on the national stage, opening the regional round of the NCAA Championship on Monday in Norman, Oklahoma.
TOURNAMENT INFO
The action begins on Monday morning with Tynan teeing off at 9:20 a.m. Due to inclement weather forecasted for the week, the golfers are set to play 36 holes on the opening day and then wrap up with either 18 holes on Tuesday or Wednesday.
One of six regional sites, Jimmie Austin OU Golf Club in Norman, Oklahoma, is set to host this week on a par-72 course that measures 6,445 yards.
REGIONAL FORMAT AND OPPONENTS
A total of 12 teams and six individuals are set to compete at six regional sites. The top five teams at the end of three rounds plus the highest-ranked individual not on one of the five advancing schools progress to the NCAA Finals later in the month.
Joining Tyan in the Norman regional are golfers from No. 1 Stanford, No. 12 Northwestern, No. 13 North Carolina, No. 24 Michigan State, No. 25 Duke, No. 36 Oklahoma, No. 37 Baylor, No. 51 Oregon State, No. 56 Tulsa, No. 66 Denver, No. 82 Furman and No. 97 Southern Mississippi plus individuals Riana Mission (San Francisco), Grace Jin (Sam Houston), Cynthia Zhang (Boston College), Amelia Guo (Sam Houston) and Zoe Pinillos (Augusta).
TYNAN SEASON RECAP
A model of consistency, Tynan recorded eight-straight top-15 finishes during the season in 10 tournaments overall. She leads Mizzou with a 73.53 stroke average, adding her first collegiate top five at the Johnie Imes Invitational and three top-10s overall (she had one top-10 finish prior to the season).
By earning her invitation to the NCAA Championship, Tynan is the first Tiger to advance to the regional round since Jessica Yuen in 2021.
TYNAN IN THE RECORD BOOK
Overall, Tynan ranks among the best to wear the Black and Gold. Her 73.53 stroke average during the 2024-25 campaign currently ranks as the seventh-best mark in the school’s record book, while her 73.63 mark during her two seasons at Mizzou ranks as the third best career mark of any MU golfer.
