CARLSBAD, Calif. – Sophomore Jacob Modleski closed out the 2024-25 men’s golf season for the University of Notre Dame after an impressive individual outing at the NCAA Championships over Memorial Day Weekend. Having registered a 217(+1) score through the first 54 holes, Modleski qualified for the final day of stroke play as one of nine individuals with a low score not on advancing teams.

After appearing in all 12 team tournaments with the Irish this season, and jumping into the top-20 ranked individuals, Modleski earned a spot in the NCAA Championships as an individual following his fourth-place finish at the Tallahassee regional a week prior. He opened the four-day tournament with a score of 70(-2) Friday evening, including three birdies on the back-nine to rank among the top 20 individuals through Round One. Saturday morning’s bout saw an even score of 72 at the Omni La Costa Resort & Spa course before he posted a Round Three score of 75(+3) to sit 22nd overall as the team play finished out.

After a playoff to determine the final advancing team Monday morning, Modleski secured a spot in the fourth round as a low-individual scorer not on an advancing team. He capped off his remarkable sophomore season with a Round Four even-par score of 72(E) to conclude the NCAA Championships with a 72-hole tally of 289(+1).
