PISCATAWAY, N.J. – The Rutgers men’s golf program has added a significant boost to its roster for the 2025-26 season, welcoming two seasoned upperclassmen via the NCAA transfer portal. Georgia Southern senior Luke Koenig and University of Texas graduate student Jeffrey Zatorski have officially joined the Scarlet Knights, bringing with them a wealth of experience and competitive pedigree.
Head coach Rob Shutte expressed enthusiasm about the additions, highlighting the impact both players are expected to make on and off the course.
“We are super excited to bring in a high-profile player who has a ton of tournament experience in Luke Koenig,” Shutte said. “He played some great golf for Georgia Southern and comes to our program as a big, strong kid who has a big heart and kind of lights up when he sees the opportunity to finish his college career in the Big Ten. He will fit very well into our culture and what we like to do here.”
Koenig, a native of Statham, Georgia, earned Dean’s List honors during his junior year. A two-time GHSA Player of the Year in high school, Koenig brings both academic and athletic excellence to Rutgers.
Joining him is Jeffrey Zatorski, a graduate transfer from Texas who will pursue a master’s degree in finance while competing for the Scarlet Knights.
“Jeffrey is a unique student-athlete who is impressive and smart on and off the golf course,” Shutte said. “He comes from a deeply rooted golf program in Texas and has been around great players his whole life in that rich state of golf. He’s going to bring a slice of that culture here to the Scarlet Knights. He has a chip on his shoulder to finish off his career here in New Jersey.”
Zatorski, a Houston posted an impressive 70.83 stroke average in his junior year at Texas. He was also active in leadership roles, serving on the university’s Student-Athlete Advisory Committee. Ranked as the No. 7 player in Texas coming out of high school in 2021, Zatorski adds both talent and maturity to the Rutgers lineup.
Koenig and Zatorski join incoming freshmen Daniel Regal, Lucas Politano, and Harry Cohen to round out a promising 2025-26 recruiting class for the Scarlet Knights.
With a blend of veteran leadership and young talent, Rutgers men’s golf is poised for a competitive season in the Big Ten.
