CHARLOTTE, N.C. (theACC.com) – North Carolina senior David Ford was named the 2025 Atlantic Coast Conference Men’s Golfer of the Year, while Georgia Tech’s Albert Hansson was voted ACC Freshman of the Year by the league’s head coaches. In addition, Virginia’s Bowen Sargent was tabbed as the ACC Coach of the Year.
Ford, along with 2025 ACC individual medalist Notre Dame’s Jacob Modleski, headlined a group of 16 golfers that earned All-ACC team honors. The ACC individual champion is automatically a member of the All-ACC team.
This year’s All-ACC team and yearly award winners are selected by a vote of the league’s 15 head coaches. The team was expanded to 16 following a tie in the final voting.
Ford led the country with five victories during the 2024-25 season, including becoming the first-ever Tar Heel to win three consecutive tournaments. Earning the Haskins and Jack Nicklaus Award after the season, Ford closed the year at No. 1 player in the Scoreboard Individual Rankings and the PGA Tour University rankings. The Peachtree Corners, Georgia, native ended the 2024-25 campaign with a program-low 68.78 scoring average and was named to the PING All-America First Team.
Hansson ended the season as the top-ranking freshman in the ACC, finishing No. 148 in the Scoreboard Individual Rankings. The Fiskebäckskil, Sweden, native compiled a 72.2 scoring average, the second-best average on the team. The freshman turned in back-to-back top-30 finishes during the postseason, tying for 14th during the stroke play portion of the 2025 ACC Championship and tying for 29th at the Auburn Regional. Hansson’s best performance came during stroke play of the East Lake Cup in October when he placed fourth as Georgia Tech’s top performer.
Sargent led Virginia to its first-ever ACC Championship and a runner-up finish at the 2025 NCAA Men’s Golf Championships. Named a finalist for the 2025 Dave Williams Award presented by Golf Pride Grips, Sargent also led the Cavaliers to a win at the Inverness Intercollegiate to open the 2024-25 season. UVA ended the season with three players in the top 100 of the Scoreboard rankings, including No. 12 Ben James, No 60. Paul Chang and No. 94 Bryan Lee.
Eight of the 16 All-ACC honorees were also named to the Division I PING All-America list, announced by the Golf Coaches Association of America…
