BURLINGTON, Ontario — Vanderbilt women’s golfer Tillie Claggett carded a 13-under-par 200 to win the 38th PGA Women’s Championship of Canada at Burlington Country Club in Burlington, Ontario.
A native of Calgary, Alberta, Claggett earned a spot in the LPGA Tour’s CPKC Open in August with her victory at the PGA Women’s Championship of Canada.
Claggett went under par in all three rounds of the 54-hole event. She produced four eagles on the week and turned in a tournament-best 8-under 63 in the second round on Wednesday. After a rollercoaster opening round with two eagles, six birdies and seven bogeys, Claggett bogeyed just twice in the final 36 holes while finding eight birdies and two eagles.
The victory is the second for Claggett in her career after winning the 2023 Patriot All-America Invitational. The dominant performance, winning by six strokes, continues a run of strong play for Claggett who finished runner-up at the Women’s Texas Amateur Championship and third at The Women’s Amateur Championship in her previous two competitions.
The CPKC Open, Canada’s national championship and lone LPGA Tour event, is set for Aug. 20-24 at Mississaugua Golf and Country Club outside Toronto.
