CORAL SPRIGS, Fla. – All-American Louise Rydqvist was named the recipient of the 2025 Edith Cummings Munson Golf Award for the second consecutive season the Women’s Golf Coaches Association (WGCA) announced on Thursday. She becomes just the fifth student-athlete to receive the award multiple times since its inception in 1989.
Last season, Rydqvist became the first player in program history to win the coveted award.
The Edith Cummings Munson Golf Award is presented annually for NCAA Division I Women’s Golf and goes to the student-athlete who is an upper classman and both a WGCA All-American Scholar and a WGCA All-American. If more than one student-athlete qualifies, the student-athlete with the highest GPA receives the award. A donation of $10,000 is given from the Curtis & Edith Cummings Munson Foundation to the general scholarship fund of the recipient’s institution.
It is one of the highest honors bestowed upon a student-athlete in women’s college golf.
Rydqvist finished her storybook career as one of the most decorated players in school history this May. She, alongside teammate Hannah Darling, became one of two players in school history to become a four-time All-American. Rydqvist was a WGCA Second Team All-American in 2024-25 after collecting five top-10 finishes including her second career win at the Darius Rucker Intercollegiate in March. She logged a 71.46 scoring average with 15 rounds of par or better.
The Värnamo, Sweden, native helped lead the Gamecocks to their fourth consecutive trip to the NCAA Championship and a final ranking of No. 5 in the Clippd Scoreboard Top-25 Poll. She helped the team claim four wins in her final season, including the NCAA Charlottesville Regional (program’s sixth all-time NCAA Regional title) and Carolina’s second ever SEC Championship at Pelican Golf Club in April.
A four-time WGCA All-American Scholar, Rydqvist graduated from South Carolina with a 3.966 cumulative GPA as a double major in finance and marketing. She became the first player in program history to win the President’s Award at the Gamecock Gala, the highest honor a student-athlete can receive at the University of South Carolina. Rydqvist was also tabbed SEC Scholar Athlete of the Year for the second consecutive season as well.
