Cal Men’s Golfer Earns Another Academic Honor
California men’s golfer Charlie Berridge has been named a Cobalt Golf All-America Scholar, the Golf Coaches Association of America announced Tuesday.
Berridge, who was also selected to the College Sports Communicators Academic At-Large All-District Team last month, was one of the Golden Bears’ co-captains last season and registered three top-30 finishes.
To be eligible for Cobalt Golf All-America Scholar recognition, a student-athlete must be at least a sophomore both academically and athletically and participate in at least 50 percent of his team’s rounds. He must also possess a stroke average of 76.0 or lower, maintain a cumulative GPA of 3.2 or higher, and be of high moral character and in good standing at the college that he attends.
Berridge finished last season with a stroke average of 72.36 and helped Cal reach the NCAA Championships for the second year in succession. He was also selected to the All-ACC Academic Team.
