Lucas Augustsson, Thomas Higgins and Andrew Swanson honored.
CLEMSON, S.C. — The 2024-25 Cobalt Golf All-America Scholars for NCAA Division I have been announced by the Golf Coaches Association of America (GCAA) and a trio of Clemson University men’s golfers have been named Academic All-Americans.
Lucas Augustsson, Thomas Higgins and Andrew Swanson earned the honor after also being named to the All-ACC Academic team earlier this summer.
Swanson led the Tigers in stroke average this year with a 71.63, while also totaling the most Top 10 finishes (four), rounds in the 60’s (10) and tied for the best round of the season with Augustsson (64). Swanson finished ninth at the ACC Championship and qualified as an individual for the NCAA Regional in Amherst. Swanson graduated from Clemson in May with a degree in mathematics.
Augustsson finished third in stroke average (72.48) and tied Swanson with a low round of 64 – both completing it during the Steelwood Collegiate. Augustsson finished 25th at the ACC Championship. He posted six rounds in the 60’s and one Top 10 finish.
Higgins posted a 73.57 stroke average. Higgins posted four rounds in the 60’s and collected one Top 10 finish.
To be eligible for Cobalt Golf All-America Scholar nomination, an individual must be a sophomore, junior or senior both academically and athletically in NCAA Division I, II, III, and NAIA, or receiving their associate’s degree and in their last year of athletic eligibility in the NJCAA. In addition, they must participate in 50% of their team’s competitive rounds, have a stroke average under 76.0 in NCAA Division I, and maintain a minimum cumulative career grade-point average of 3.2. A recipient must also be of high moral character and be in good standing at their college or university.
