Bellville Joins Fighting Illini Women's Golf Program

CHAMPAIGN, Ill. – Illinois women’s golf head coach Renee Slone has announced the addition of Kari Bellville to her staff as an assistant coach and director of operations. Bellville joins the Orange and Blue after spending three seasons working with the men’s and women’s programs at the University of Notre Dame.

“I am thrilled to welcome Kari Bellville to our coaching staff,” shared Slone. “I have known her for 15 years and had the opportunity to watch her develop as a player at both the junior and collegiate levels and now as a coach moving through the ranks of graduate assistant to head coach. I admire her work ethic, can-do attitude, and commitment to the overall growth of her student-athletes. She has hit the ground running, jumping right in to work on several projects in preparation for the Illinois Women’s Golf Classic. Illinois Women’s Golf is fortunate to have a coach with such experience join us, and I am excited to have her assistance in continuing to propel our program forward.”

Bellville joins the Fighting Illini following a three-year stint at her alma mater that began in August 2022. She was elevated to associate head coach for the Notre Dame golf teams entering the 2024-25 campaign, her final season back in her hometown.

During Bellville’s time on the Notre Dame golf staff, the Irish posted 11 top-five team finishes along with the program’s best finish at the ACC Championships since 2018. Additionally, the Fighting Irish claimed three individual tournament titles with Bellville on staff, including an NCAA Regional individual champion, the first in program history. Bellville assisted graduate Lauren Beaudreau (NCAA East Lansing Regional champion) at the 2024 NCAA National Championships in La Costa, California – the first appearance for the Irish since 2011.

Bellville returned to Notre Dame after spending the 2021-22 season as the University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB) women’s golf head coach. Prior to UAB, she was an assistant coach at Texas State from December 2019 to May 2021.

A 2018 Notre Dame graduate and three-year women’s golf student-athlete, Bellville did not compete during her senior year at Notre Dame due to a wrist injury. She finished her degree in business marketing and utilized her final year of eligibility at Indiana University in 2018-19, helping the Hoosiers advance…
