No. 12 Gamecocks Look to Defend Title at ANNIKA Intercollegiate – University of South Carolina Athletics

Carolina has swept the team/individual titles at the event the last two seasons ; Gamecocks one of eight top-15 teams in the deep field this week

LAKE ELMO, Minn. – No. 12 South Carolina opens the season at a familiar event on Monday, returning to the ANNIKA Intercollegiate at Royal Golf Club. The Gamecocks have won the event four times, taking home the team and individual titles in each of the last two seasons.

It’s an elite field this week, per usual, with eight teams ranked inside the top-15 of the Preseason Mizuno WGCA Coaches Poll highlighted by defending National Champion No. 10 Northwestern.

Sophomore All-American Eila Galitsky, who enters the season No. 7 in the latest World Amateur Golf Rankings, has the top spot in the lineup this week. She had a big summer in which she became the first player in program history to reach the quarterfinals of the U.S. Women’s Amatuer in mid-August at Bandon Dunes.

Junior transfer Alicia Olsson makes her Gamecock debut in the No. 2 spot in the lineup. She was a two-time First Team All-CAA selection at Campbell, winning CAA Co-Golfer of the Year last season. A trio of French players rounds out the lineup this week with experienced juniors Vairana Heck and Maylis Lamoure followed by true freshman Laura Nepper in what will be her collegiate debut. Heck was All-SEC has a freshman in 2023-24 and Lamoure was an All-SEC player on last season’s squad as a sophomore helping team win the SEC Championship and the NCAA Charlottesville Regional.

First round action gets underway at 11:20 a.m. (ET) on Monday with Nepper first off for the Gamecocks on hole one. Carolina will be paired with No. 2 Oregon and No. 3 Texas the opening 18 holes.
