LAKE BLUFF, Ill. – For the fifth consecutive season, No. 12 South Carolina will compete in the Jackson. T Stephens Cup which features six of the best women’s programs in the country and six of the best men’s teams at the top courses across the nation annually in the fall. This year’s event, which starts Monday and runs thru Wednesday, will take place at Shoreacres just north of Chicago on Lake Michigan.
The Jackson T. Stephens Cup started in 2021 at The Alotian Club in Roland, Ark. and is held in memory of the late Augusta National Chairman, Jackson T. Stephens.
The tournament format includes 54 holes of stroke play, which determines the team standings and sets the field for the final day of 18-hole match play based on those stroke-play results to determine a team champion. The event also recognizes the individual who claims the stroke play title.
The top four men’s and women’s will advance to match play on Wednesday. The Gamecocks have made match play in all four previous Stephens Cup appearances with a runner-up finish in 2021.
It’s the same five-player lineup from the season opening ANNIKA Intercollegiate earlier this week led by sophomore All-American Eila Galitsky, who won for the second time in her young career at Royal Golf Club. Junior Vai Heck is also fresh off a solid performance in the opener as she finished T-19th. Freshman Laura Nepper, junior Maylis Lamoure and transfer Alicia Olsson round out the lineup.
