Galitsky Named SEC Women’s Golfer of the Week – University of South Carolina Athletics

Sophomore All-American had a pair of top-10 finishes in the first two events of the season, including her second college win at the ANNIKA Intercollegiate (Sept. 8-10)

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – Sophomore All-American standout Eila Galitsky was named SEC Women’s Golfer of the Week for the first time in her career the league office announced on Wednesday.  The Chiang Mai, Thailand native has gotten off to a strong start in two events so far this season with a win and a recent T-9th finish at the Stephens Cup.

Galitsky was co-medalist of the ANNIKA Intercollegiate (Sept. 8-10) to open the season after shooting 207 (-9) at Royal Golf Club en route to her second college victory. She fired rounds of 67-70-60 making a team-high 13 birdies and leading the field with three eagles. Galitsky was the only player in the 60-women field that week with multiple eagles on her scorecards.

She was impressive down the stretch each day, shooting a combined 10-under on holes 15 thru 18 during the tournament. Galitsky’s top-10 yesterday at the Stephens cup was the sixth top-10 finish of her career in just eight collegiate starts.

The No. 12 Gamecocks are off from play the next month before returning to action at the Ruth’s Chris Tar Heel, Oct. 17-19, at Finley Golf Club.
