TOLEDO, Ohio — The University of Notre Dame women’s golf team completed their second tournament of the fall slate Tuesday afternoon, tying for eighth place overall with a score of 918(+66) at the Inverness Intercollegiate.
Freshman Jordan Levitt led the way for the Irish women, finishing with a score of 225(+12) for 19th overall. After opening the tournament with a score of 77(+6), Levitt posted consecutive 74(+3) scores to conclude the tournament and finish among the top-20 individually.
Placing 24th-overall, Maddy Bante finished with a score of 229(+16). With a first round score of 78(+7), Bante went on to record a plus-six of 77 in round two before closing out the tournament with a third round score of 74(+3). Her classmate, Bridget Wilkie finished third for the Irish and 34th overall after ending the tournament with a score of 231(+18). Wilkie’s three round totals included 77(+6) in round one, a round two score of 76(+5) and third round tally at 78(+7).
Sawyer Brockstedt rounded out the scoring for the Irish as her final stroke count of 236(+23) ranked 45th overall. The freshman posted a first round score of 83(+12) before ending the opening day with a 73(+2) tally. She finished the two-day tournament with a score of 80(+9) Tuesday to close out the top-50 individually.
The final team competitor in the second tournament of the year was Taryn Cagle, who finished with a final stroke count of 241(+28) through three rounds played. After posting a first round score of 85(+14), the freshman came out in the second half of the day to record a 79(+8) score in round two. She then closed out the competition with her tournament-low 77(+6) tally.
Alex Lapple was also in Ohio for the two-day tournament, competing as an individual and finishing 30th overall with a score of 230(+17). Lapple recorded a score of 81(+10) in round one before closing out Monday’s play with a score of 77(+6) in round two. She posted a final round score of 72(+1) to close it out.
The women will have a week off before returning to the course on September 28 when they host the Women’s Fighting Irish Classic at Warren Golf Course.
