Vanderbilt Women's Golf | Finishing Out Fall

NASHVILLE, Tenn. — Vanderbilt women’s golf returns to the course this week for the final time this fall. Hot off two-straight tournament victories, the ninth-ranked Commodores will travel to West Point, Mississippi, to compete in The Ally, hosted at Old Waverly Golf Club. The Commodores finished third as a team last year at the event.

“We’re excited to have the opportunity to compete again and hope to close out the fall season with the same kind of effort we’ve been playing with so far,” said head coach Greg Allen. “Our lineup will be a new one for us this year, but I feel like we could have a combination of seven different girls and be very competitive.”

Leading the Vanderbilt lineup this week is freshman Elizabeth Rudisill. The Charlotte, North Carolina, native notched her first individual victory as a Commodore at the Ron Moore Intercollegiate earlier this month. Ava Merrill, who tied for second place at that event, is also slotted into the lineup, alongside Lynn Lim and Sara Im. Angelina Tolentino rounds out the Commodore squad following her back-to-back top ten individual finishes. Competing as individuals this week are Kathryn Ha and Tillie Claggett.

“The competition gets tougher from here on, so this will be a good challenge for us,” said Allen. “Old Waverly is a great test of golf. It’s hosted a U.S. Women’s Open and a U.S. Women’s Am, so it’s a good one.”

The Ally field consists of fifteen teams with five ranked inside the Clippd Top 30. Vanderbilt leads at No. 9, and the rest of the field includes No. 10 Arkansas, Cal State Fullerton, No. 27 Florida, Georgia Southern, Iowa, Jax State, Mercer, No. 13 Mississippi State, No. 14 Ole Miss, Sam Houston, Southern Miss, Troy, ULM and Xavier.

“My expectation will be to come out and play to our standard which is to play hard from start to finish with a great attitude,” said Allen.

Vanderbilt will tee off at 10:00 a.m. CT with Mississippi State and Florida. Live scoring for the event can be found on Scoreboard.
